ShareCostsNow is an app by BK Modules LLC. You can delete your account whenever you like, from the app or by writing to us, without giving any reason.
From the app
- Open ShareCostsNow and tap “Me” in the bottom bar: that is the “Your account” screen.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap “Delete my account”.
- Read what will happen and confirm with “Delete my account”.
The account is deleted straight away and this cannot be undone. If you have Pro, cancel the subscription first in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions: deleting the account does not cancel it.
Without the app
If you no longer have the app or cannot sign in, write to [email protected] from your account's email address and ask us to delete it: writing from that address is what confirms to us that the account is yours. We delete it just as the app does, within one month at most, and reply once it is done.
What is deleted
When you delete your account, this disappears from ShareCostsNow straight away:
- Your account: name, email, your Google identifier if you signed in with Google, and your preferences (language and notifications).
- Your sessions on all your devices, any pending sign-in links and the keys the app uses to avoid saving twice what it sends while offline.
- The notification identifiers of your devices.
- Your conversations with the assistant, in every group.
- Your Pro subscription data that Google Play gave us.
On the phone you delete it from, the app also deletes what it kept to open offline and anything you recorded offline that had not been sent yet.
What happens to your groups
A group's expenses, income, payments and receipts also belong to the other people in the group: if they were deleted with your account, their balances would no longer add up. That is why they stay in the group:
- In each group, your place becomes a person without an account, with your name and its whole history (what you paid, your share of each expense and the receipts with their photos), but with nothing linking it to your account or your email.
- If you don't want your name to stay in those groups, change it in “Your account” before deleting it (to your initials, for example): the change reaches all your groups at once.
- Where you were the only admin, another person in the group with an account becomes admin.
- If you were the only person with an account in a group, the group is archived (the app tells you which ones before you confirm): it becomes read-only and, like any archived group, it is deleted completely after two years without anyone opening it.
Backups and logs
The encrypted database backups keep how it was on each day, so your data remains in them until they expire: daily backups after 30 days and monthly ones after 12 months. They are only used to restore the service after a failure. Server logs (IP, date and page requested) are deleted after 30 days, and the application's error logs after 14.
What Google keeps about your Google Play purchases and the ads is managed from your Google account.
